THE REAL STORY BEHIND THE NAME KIRKHOLM

If we rewind about 24 years, the vision for an engineering firm comes to life in the heart of Jutland, in Ry, where civil engineer Kjeld Bruno Pedersen realizes his lifelong dream: to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions for the Danish industry. The company’s name would ultimately be inspired by a place south of the Danish city Horsens, that held a deep, personal meaning for Kjeld.

Sand between his toes, fresh strawberries with cream, and endless summer evenings. As a child, Kjeld Bruno Pedersen spent his summers at his grandparents' summer house, a place that filled him with memories of joy, optimism, and dreams. The small town where that summer house stood was called Kirkholm - and so it became the name of Kjeld Bruno Pedersen’s company. He carried that same joy, optimism, and sense of possibility into his business.

From the beginning, Kirkholm Mechanical Engineering took on a broad array of projects for Danish industry. Beyond classic mechanical engineering work such as optimizing food processing equipment or designing lifting solutions for wind turbines, Kirkholm has also developed measurement tools for Mars missions and supplied equipment to CERN, the world’s largest research center. Here at Kirkholm, ambition has no limits.

Today, Kirkholm Mechanical Engineering has grown into a consultancy with three offices across Denmark. Though Kjeld Bruno Pedersen passed away in 2014, his vision and ambition continue to live on at Kirkholm Mechanical Engineering - driving us forward both now and into the future.

COMMITMENT

WE COMMIT OURSELVES

At Kirkholm, we are constantly trying to expand our horizons and get involved. We believe that we have a responsibility for knowledge and people, which is why it is important for us to maintain a healthy business that also makes sense for both us and the world around us.

EDUCATION = ENGINEERS OF THE FUTURE

We prioritize education and the future of engineering by collaborating with Aarhus University, DTU, and VIA University College. Some of our employees teach and serve as examiners in mechanical engineering programs, benefiting both students and our professionalism. Our CSO, Nicolai Tolstrup, is also on the advisory board for Aarhus University’s Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics program, helping ensure its continuous development.

At Kirkholm, we regularly host interns, offering them relevant tasks and knowledge. They are integrated into the company, gaining hands-on experience across various aspects of the engineering profession.
